Specifically dedicated to improving the health, independence and quality of life of older people throughout the world, MIAH is working to fulfill its mission by undertaking three activities:
- Communicating vital health information
- Educating the public and health professionals about aging
- Encouraging health research in the aging field
To help bridge the information gap for health professionals and the public, the Institute continuously holds conferences, workshops, and other activities on healthy aging. It sponsors an annual State of Aging and Health Report to provide a snapshot of aging and health in the United States, and maintains a Web site that provides physician with innovative tools for diagnosing and treating geriatric conditions, timely reviews of health and aging stories, and a free geriatric journal club that appraises and critiques articles published in major medical journals.
